Mental Health:

National Centre for Eating Disorders – provides information and advice on eating disorders.

Penumbra – promote mental health and wellbeing for all, prevent mental ill health for people who are ‘at risk’, and to support people with mental health problems.

Samaritans – confidential emotional support, 24 hours a day for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair.

SAMH – provides mental health support for adults and young people.

Support in Mind – for anyone whose mental health problems or mental illness has a serious impact on their life.

Substance Use:

Addaction – one of the UK’s leading drug, alcohol and mental health charities.

Change, Grow, Live – provide help and support to adults, children, young people and families affected by alcohol and/or drugs.

Drink Aware – alcohol education charity which provides facts, information and advice around alcohol.

Know the Score – provides support and advices as well as facts and information about drugs.

Turning Point Scotland – covers a wide range of health and wellbeing issues associated substance misuse harm reduction and promoting recovery.

Housing:

Shelter – housing advice.

YourHome – provides support to people who are homeless or in danger of losing their home.

Relationships:

Relationships Scotland – provides relationship counselling, family mediation and child contact centre services.

Domestic Abuse:

National Domestic Abuse Helpline – can give support, help and information over the telephone, wherever the caller might be in the country.

Scotland’s Domestic Abuse and Forced Marriage Helpline – is a confidential 24-hour helpline service for anyone with experience of domestic abuse or forced marriage.

Women’s Aid– provides advice and support for women experiencing domestic abuse.

Parenting:

Care for the Family – support for parents.

Circle Scotland – offers a range of whole family support services that promote children’s healthy development and potential.

One Parent Families – provides help to all single parent families.

Parenting Across Scotland – support for parents and families across Scotland.

Parentline – For anyone caring for or concerned about a child.

LGBTQ+:

FearFree – a support service for any man, or LGBTI+ person experiencing domestic abuse.

LGBT Health and Wellbeing – provide support services, social events and develop resources so LGBT people can address the health issues that impact their lives.

LGBT Scot – provides a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender (LGBT) listings directory relevent to the LGBT+ community in Scotland.

Veterans:

Scottish Veterans Residences -provide quality support and accommodation to ex-Service/Merchant Marine personnel.

Veterans Assist Scotland – signpost and connect the Veterans’ Community including their families, with the organisations and services best placed to help.

Veterans Gateway – a single point of contact for veterans seeking advice and support.

Veterans Mentoring Service – for military veterans who are currently in or are at risk of becoming involved in the criminal justice system.

Veterans Scotland – Information, advice and guidance for veterans.

Criminal Justice Support:

Peer Mentoring – mentoring service for people who are getting help from the Council’s community justice team.

SurvivorsUK – helps men who have suffered sexual abuse or rape and raises awareness of their needs.

Travel service – provides transport to enable prisoners and patients to maintain contact with their families and friends.

Victims of Crime in Scotland – provides information on the Scottish Criminal Justice System tailored for those who have been victims of crime.

Victim Support – provide support for people affected by crime or traumatic events.

Agencies Providing Multiple Services:

CHAI – housing, employability and income support for those living across Edinburgh and Lothians.

Citizens Advice Scotland – is the Citizens Advice Bureau information site.

Counselling Directory – is a UK-wide counselling support network, enabling people in distress to find a counsellor close to them. It is a free, confidential service and all counsellors are fully qualified, insured and registered with professional bodies.

NHS Health Scotland – is the online portal for NHS Scotland.
